STK was designed to facilitate rapid development of music synthesis and audio processing software, with an emphasis on cross-platform functionality, realtime control, ease of use, and educational example code.<\/p>\n<p>Today I was investigating if the library can be used on an <strong>Arduino Nono<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Arduino development environment for the ESP32 or ESP8266 are providing many <strong>std c++ classes<\/strong> &#8211; this is not the case in the Standard Arduino.<\/p>\n<p>The STK framework is using the following (missing) classes which are not available in the Standard Arduino implementation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>std::vector<\/li>\n<li>std::string<\/li>\n<li>std::ostringstream<\/li>\n<li>std::cout<\/li>\n<li>std::queue<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fortunately you can <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/mike-matera\/ArduinoSTL\">install Mike Materas <strong>STL Library<\/strong><\/a> that provides the missing functionality. You can find this library in the Arduino Library Manager!<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately however this library is currently <strong>not supporting the current Arduino version (1.8.3)<\/strong> and you will need to <strong>downgrade<\/strong> the Arduino AVR Boards version in the Board Manager <strong>to 1.8.2<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>Here is a simpole Noise example:<\/p>\n<pre><code>#include \"Noise.h\"\nusing namespace stk;\n\nNoise noise;\nStkFloat output;\n\nvoid setup() {\n  Serial.begin(115200);\n}\n\nvoid loop() {\n  output = noise.tick();\n  Serial.println(output);\n}\n<\/code><\/pre>\n<h2>Memory Information<\/h2>\n<pre><code>Global variables use 718 bytes (35%) of dynamic memory, leaving 1330 bytes for local variables. Maximum is 2048 bytes.\nSketch uses 8396 bytes (27%) of program storage space. Maximum is 30720 bytes.\n<\/code><\/pre>\n<h2>Output in the Serial Plotter<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pschatzmann.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Screen-Shot-2020-09-29-at-16.01.29-300x163.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1996\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Caveats<\/h2>\n<p>However I noticed that some things are not good:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The sine() example is silently crashing<\/li>\n<li>There is not enough space for the memory based files<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I will look into this if I have some spare time&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I made the Synthesis ToolKit (SKT) available as Arduino Library.
