I was struggling quite a bit to figure out how this is working. This board is using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ti.com\/lit\/ds\/symlink\/drv8833.pdf?ts=1598360020904&amp;ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.google.com%252F\">DRV8833<\/a> chip and can control 2 motors in parallel.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Specifications<\/strong>: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span><strong>Product size<\/strong>: 18.5*16mm\/0.73*0.63&#8243; <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><strong>Input voltage:<\/strong> 3-10V Single H bridge <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><strong>Output current<\/strong>: 1.5A, can drive 2 DC geared motors <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Uses: It can drive DC motors up to 1.5A and 4-wire stepper motors <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pschatzmann.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/HW-627-B-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"456\" height=\"608\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1484\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pschatzmann.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/HW-627-B-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.pschatzmann.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/HW-627-B.jpg 488w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 456px) 100vw, 456px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Fist, to <strong>test a motor<\/strong>, I connected it directly to the power lines and this was working!<\/p>\n<p>Then I connected <strong>VCC<\/strong> and <strong>In1<\/strong> to the power line (+), <strong>GND<\/strong> and <strong>in2<\/strong> to ground (-) and the motor to <strong>out1<\/strong> and <strong>out2<\/strong> and to my surprise the LED was on but the motor was not working. It took me quite some time to figure out that <strong>EEP must be set to high<\/strong> as well and after connecting it to the power (+) the motor started to spin!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pschatzmann.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/HW-627-C-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"925\" height=\"694\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1491\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pschatzmann.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/HW-627-C-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.pschatzmann.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/HW-627-C-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.pschatzmann.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/HW-627-C.jpg 934w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 925px) 100vw, 925px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To use the full functionality in <strong>Arduino<\/strong>\u00a0 (e.g. with an ESP32, ESP8266 or any other board) use the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>VCC: VIN<\/li>\n<li>GND: GND<\/li>\n<li>IN1::\u00a0 <span>general-purpose input\/output (<\/span><b>GPIO<\/b><span>)<\/span> Pin e.g. D0<\/li>\n<li>IN2:\u00a0 <span>general-purpose input\/output (<\/span><b>GPIO<\/b><span>) <\/span>Pin, e.g. D1<\/li>\n<li>EEP:\u00a0 <span>general-purpose input\/output (<\/span><b>GPIO<\/b><span>) <\/span>PIN e.g. D3<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Define <strong>GPIO pins<\/strong> as <strong>output<\/strong> and set<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IN1 to high<\/li>\n<li>IN2 to low<\/li>\n<li>EEP to high<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To <strong>reverse<\/strong> the direction<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>IN1 to low<\/li>\n<li>IN2 to high<\/li>\n<li>EEP to high<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is even better to <strong>power the motor from it&#8217;s own battery<\/strong> with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>VCC: Battery +<\/li>\n<li>GND: Battery &#8211; &amp; GND (make sure that the battery and the Microcontroller share a common Ground!)<\/li>\n<li>IN1::\u00a0 <span>general-purpose input\/output (<\/span><b>GPIO<\/b><span>)<\/span> Pin e.g. D0<\/li>\n<li>IN2:\u00a0 <span>general-purpose input\/output (<\/span><b>GPIO<\/b><span>) <\/span>Pin, e.g. D1<\/li>\n<li>EEP:\u00a0 <span>general-purpose input\/output (<\/span><b>GPIO<\/b><span>) <\/span>PIN e.g. D3<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To control the <strong>speed<\/strong> &#8211; instead of setting the value to high-\u00a0 use <strong>analogWrite<\/strong> to set a value to IN1 or IN2.<\/p>\n<h5>Power Consumption<\/h5>\n<p>For my tests I was using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.banggood.com\/Racerstar-8520-8_5x20mm-53500RPM-Coreless-Motor-Upgrade-for-Eachine-QX80-DIY-Micro-FPV-p-1113933.html?rmmds=myorder&amp;ID=49005522421&amp;cur_warehouse=CN\">Racerstar 8520 8.5x20mm 53500RPM Coreless Motor<\/a><strong class=\"title_strong\">:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The measured power consumption <strong>at 5.0V was 0.4 Amps<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Quite some time ago I bought some cheap DRV8833 Motor Controller Boards (HW-627) from China and now I planned to use them in one of my projects.
